Inés Valdez Named as Recipient of the Excellence in Latinx Service Award

The Latinx Studies Program is pleased to name Inés Valdez as the recipient of the 2023 Excellence in Latinx Service award. Dr. Valdez is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science, a faculty member of the Institute for Democratic Engagement and Accountability, and recent former Director of the Latina/o Studies program. Dr. Valdez' service to the Center for Ethnic Studies and Latina/o Studies at OSU has been a source of inspiration and transformation across disciplines and departments. Initiatives she spearheaded this year include co-organizing the upcoming workshop "Tradition and Disruption in Latinx and Latin American Political Theory" and the development of a new certificate on Race and Environmental Justice initiated by the Center for Ethnic Studies. We wish to thank Dr. Valdez for her many robust contributions to Latinx Studies at OSU and congratulate her on her outstanding record of service and engagement.
