Hispanic Oversight Committee (HOC)

Currently, the Hispanic Oversight Committee is implementing a strategic plan to increase Latin@ recruitment and retention at OSU particularly at the Graduate School . One of its goals is to gain The University recognition of the importance that Latin@ culture plays in successfully recruiting talented Hispanic graduate students, and accordingly, have the Graduate School implement an initiative specifically designed to them. This is the first of many important steps to increase the presence of Hispanic/Latin@ graduate students at Ohio State . Since several academic areas at Ohio State currently have Latin@ faculty who can play a pivotal role in the recruitment process, such as science and engineering, agriculture, education and English, the HOC proposes initially to target this subset of disciplines, as we begin to build a network of supportive relationships and infrastructure.

HGO’s  main goal is to provide social activities and gatherings that give you the opportunity to interact with other Hispanic and Latin American students. Our activities range from movie-nights to quarterly trips. We are also committed to providing students with outreach opportunities both within the university community and beyond.
