Please join us on Thursday, January 10 as we formally acknowledge the various contributions of Latinos in World War II. Come for the movie and stay for the community discussion that will follow.

 

PROGRAM

CONFERENCE-WORKSHOP ON LATINOS IN WORLD WAR II
Part I
1.        Pat Enciso introduces the Speakers: Mario Barrera, Lilia Fernandez, and Arturo Aldama and the general theme of the mini-conference/workshop.
2.        Barrera contextualizes/introduces his documentary.
3.        Show part of documentary (1hr ).
Break for refreshments/snacks
Part II
1.    Lilia Fernandez and Arturo Aldama give talk based around theme/issues of   Latinos in WWII.
2.   Frederick Aldama asks reflective and suggestive question of how this might
impact education to the Speakers (Fernandez, Aldama, and Barrera).
3.      Open to general comments/questions from audience.

Part III
1. Break out into small working group clusters: what did we learn and what can we do to advance knowledge in this area for teachers and students?
   (drinks/snacks while discussing).
2. Have groups/clusters discuss strategies etc. with larger group.
